The Nitty Gritty

Home teams are listed second. A league with a game under way floats to the top until it ends (tennis, golf and MMA, which have no live scores here, stay put); otherwise leagues in their playoffs come first. A league drops off 7 days after its season ends and returns with its first game, preseason included. Standings count regular-season games only and are worked out here from the results, so close races may be ordered differently from the official tables. Live scores update every couple of minutes; college football scores appear once games are final.

Data from balldontlie (NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, tennis, golf, MMA), CollegeFootballData.com and CollegeBasketballData.com. Football scores can run a little behind. Formula 1 data from Jolpica-F1, licensed CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. AFL data from the Squiggle API. Olympic and Paralympic medal tables from Wikipedia’s medal table articles, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 (and shared here under the same license); the dates of the Games from Wikidata. The Olympics card stays on the page between Games, counting down to the next. Betting lines are the median across sportsbooks, from The Odds API (and CollegeFootballData and CollegeBasketballData for college games), updated about once a day and shown for information only. TV channels are for the U.S.: college networks from CollegeFootballData and CollegeBasketballData, NFL channels only for the national prime-time games (Sunday afternoon games vary by region), and MLB postseason networks as announced for each round (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA). On This Day comes from Wikidata.
